Finding the Right Tutor Just Got Easier

Oct 4, 2026

We rebuilt Tutorela's search from the ground up. Here's how the new subject navigation gets you to the right tutor, at the right level, in a few clicks.

Tutorela US launched not long ago, and we've already hit some milestones we're proud of. More tutors join every week, and that's great news. It also creates a new problem: the more tutors we have, the harder it gets to find the one who's right for you.

And we have a lot of subjects. We mean a lot. Math and English, sure, but also biology, history, music, Spanish, coding and plenty more. Finding a tutor should be the easiest step of your learning journey, not a project of its own.

So we went back to the drawing board and rebuilt our search from start to finish. Meet the new subject navigation widget.

So, how does it work?

It starts simple: you see the subjects we offer, like math, English, biology, history and so on. Pick one and you're in.

But every subject is a world of its own, so once you're inside you can narrow things down in two ways:

Level. This sorts tutors by skill level or stage of life. Sitting down at the piano for the first time, or ready to polish an advanced piece? You can go straight to beginner music tutors or to advanced music tutors. Need help with elementary school math, or with a high school math course? Choose your level and the list adjusts.

Sub-topic. This is exactly what it sounds like. History is a huge field, so do you need help with ancient history, medieval history or modern history? Now you can find a tutor who focuses on the era you're actually studying, not just "history" in general.

We also went one step further and separated university courses from everything else. Cell structure in high school biology is not the same as a college cell biology course, and you shouldn't have to dig through profiles to work out who teaches which. If you're in 10th grade, start with cell biology basics or high school biology tutors. If it's your sophomore year, head to cell biology or university biology tutors. Either way, you'll find someone who teaches at your level.

Tutorela's subject window open inside Biology, with levels from Elementary School to University, Pre-University topics such as Cell Biology Basics and Ecology, and University Courses such as Anatomy and Biochemistry
Inside every subject: pick a level, a sub-topic, or both.

Built to stay out of your way

A few smaller details make a big difference:

  • The same window, wherever you are: click "Browse by subject" on the homepage, or the subject box at the top of any search page, and the same window opens. No need to learn two systems.
  • It knows where you are: if you're already looking at geometry tutors, the window opens right inside Math with Geometry highlighted, so switching to pre-algebra takes one click.
  • No dead ends: we only show subjects that have tutors available right now. If you see it, you can book it.
  • Just start typing: know what you want? Type it, and you'll get the same results in the same order whether you're on the homepage or inside the window.
  • The Back button works the way you'd expect: hit Back in your browser and you go back one step along the path you took. No surprise jumps back to the homepage.

A few extras, just because

Picking a tutor for the first time isn't always easy. Sometimes you look around, think it over, and come back later. That's why the homepage now saves your recent searches, so you can pick up where you left off without starting over. Right below them you’ll see popular subjects, the searches other learners make most often, in case you’re looking for a starting point.

The homepage also shows how many tutors are available in each subject, so you get a sense of how many options are waiting for you before you even click. Those numbers are growing fast, and we're working hard to keep them growing.

We're just getting started

This is the first of many updates. We're a team of people who care a lot about making learning easier, and we build Tutorela based on what you tell us. Give the new search a try, and if something feels off or you have an idea, we want to hear it.

Ready to try it? Pick a subject and see who's waiting for you.
