About me
I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching (Childhood Education) from Queens College and have more than 30 years of experience tutoring students both in person and online. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and an AA degree in Deaf Studies (American Sign Language ASL).
I work with students from Kindergarten through Grade 7 in elementary and middle school math, including numbers, shapes, arithmetic, problem-solving, and foundational skills, as well as elementary English. I’ve also worked with students needing basic ASL.
Throughout my experience, I have worked with students at many different academic levels, including students who are struggling with a subject, or need additional support with foundational skills. I understand that every child learns differently, and I tailor my instruction to each student’s individual needs, strengths, learning style, and areas for growth.
My approach is supportive, patient, and individualized. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges, and making mistakes without feeling discouraged. My goal is not simply to help a student complete an assignment, but to build understanding, confidence, and skills that they can carry into the classroom and beyond.
Whether a student needs help strengthening foundational skills, catching up, keeping up with grade-level work, or gaining greater confidence, I strive to create a positive learning environment where each student can make meaningful progress.
