About me

Hi, I'm Scott. I'm a former middle-school teacher in rural Alaska and a longtime homeschool dad. I spent 2.5 years in the classroom, and our family has homeschooled for about 15 years. I help elementary and middle-school learners make sense of math, biology, geography, history, and foundational computer concepts. My approach is patient, practical, and tailored to your child. We break tough ideas into manageable steps, use real examples, and make room for questions and a little humor. If one explanation doesn't click, we'll try another. Your child should feel comfortable saying, "I don't understand yet." Whether your child needs help with homework, a gap in understanding, or building confidence, we'll start with what they know and work from there. My goal is for your child to understand what they're doing and become more confident working independently.
