About me
I am a 34 year old tutor from the United States. I specialize in tutoring chemistry, beginner Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and ESL.
I graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. I have 5 years of experience tutoring science online for several online tutoring platforms, including Varsity Tutors, Numerade Education, Pear Deck Tutor, Outschool, and Link-Systems International. My experience includes tutoring in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. I have also tutored highschoolers in AP/IB/Honors Chemistry through one-on-one sessions.
I have experience tutoring ESL on Preply and Nativecamp. I have tutored students online for about 1 year. I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds. As an ESL tutor, I focus on providing tailored instruction suited to each learners' unique needs. Through practice conversations, I provide corrections and practice together with learners to help them improve.
I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. As a Chinese American, I have spoken Chinese my whole life. I am passionate about supporting others in their learning. As a Chinese teacher on Outschool, I have helped beginners with pinyin, tones, pronunciation, reading, writing, and grammar. During our lessons, students will build their skills using practice conversation scripts, games, and illustrations. I understand that learning a new language can be difficult, so I always try to provide positive encouragement and support.
I am experienced with using virtual whiteboard technology to help students succeed. I have worked with diverse learners, adapting my approach to meet each student’s unique needs. I take pride in creating a supportive online learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and think independently.
