Hi there! I’m a tutor specializing in reading for students in grades 2–5. If your child dislikes reading, struggles with choppy reading, or lacks confidence when reading aloud, I can help. Many parents begin to notice a difference in their child’s reading fluency and confidence after just a few consistent lessons. With approximately 10 consistent lessons, many students can make meaningful progress in their guided reading level.
For younger or struggling readers, I focus first on phonics and reading fluency while also incorporating read-alouds. This allows students to strengthen their listening comprehension and enjoy engaging stories that may still be above their independent reading level. Once students have developed stronger foundational reading skills, we move into reading comprehension and higher-level thinking, including predicting, comparing, questioning, character analysis, making inferences, and more.
So, how is this possible? Well, I teach reading using the Science of Reading, incorporating systematic phonics instruction, decodable texts, and assessments of phonemic awareness. This allows me to identify what a student knows, where they may be struggling, and what skills they need to work on next.
But what really makes me stand out is my ability to connect with children. I genuinely love seeing kids grow, overcome challenges, and discover that they can do things they once thought were difficult. Teaching is something I truly love—and thankfully, kids seem to love learning with me, too!
