About me

Hello! I'm a widely published writer and author of a recent book of poems, "Out of Nowhere" (Stephen F. Austin Univ. Press/Texas A&M, 2022), and sharing my love of literature is one of my greatest joys. Since 2017, I've taught reading, discussion and writing courses for undergraduates at Siena College, The College of St. Rose, and SUNY Albany, as well as for adults in the community. I also tutor teens in understanding and discussing the ideas in their assigned reading for high school. Much of the time, I use the Socratic method of asking informed questions designed to help students make their own discoveries and find their own answers. I also provide guidance by identifying and introducing students to literary genres, forms, techniques and contexts that help bring their understanding and skills to a higher -- more confident and effective -- level.
