Receiving payment directly from students

Updated Oct 11, 2026

The choice of payment method for a lesson is up to you and the relevant student.

In cases where the student pays you directly (cash, bank transfer, or a mobile payment app), you need to update the relevant lesson in your calendar with the chosen payment method.

To do this, log in to your account on the platform, then click the (change) link next to the lesson's payment method in your calendar and set it to "Direct":

Reporting a received payment

When the lesson ends, the option to report the lesson appears under the "Tasks" tab.

When you click the "Lesson completed" button, the following form opens:

Enter the lesson details, the lesson length and the hourly price. The total price calculation is shown at the bottom of the form, it's a good idea to confirm this is indeed the amount you received from the student. When you click "Continue", the lesson is successfully reported to your account.

Transaction tracking

You can track the lessons you've reported through your account on the platform, under "Direct-payment tracking".

Paying commission on lessons paid directly to you

The commission on lessons paid directly to you and reported on the platform is charged once a month, in a single consolidated payment covering all lessons reported during that month.

The payment is charged on the 5th of the following month (on November 5th, a consolidated payment is charged for commissions on lessons held in October) from the tutor's payment method on file.

Receiving an invoice for the commissions you paid

At the end of each month, we'll email you a consolidated invoice for all the commissions you paid.

Issuing a receipt / tax invoice to the student

The student pays you directly, so you need to issue them a tax invoice/receipt for the payment they made to you.

Handling receipts and/or invoices with students is your responsibility as an independent tutor. It's just like any private lesson or service provided by a professional, as a tutor, you're responsible for issuing the appropriate documents to your students, in accordance with the law and your professional status.
