Student reviews and ratings are one of the most important components of a tutor's Score. They reflect student satisfaction, strengthen the profile's credibility, and directly affect exposure in search results.
Why are reviews so important?
- They build trust with new students
- They reflect professionalism, service, and teaching quality
- They affect the tutor's Score in search results
- They contribute to climbing the Score tiers
The more positive and recent reviews a tutor has, the more credible and attractive their profile is perceived to be.
How do students leave a review?
There are several ways reviews come in on the platform:
- After a lesson ends, the student is sent an option to rate the tutor and leave feedback.
- A satisfaction call, in certain cases we hold a call with the student, during which a review can be confirmed and posted directly to the profile.
- Directly on the tutor's profile.
What does a verified review look like?
Verified reviews can appear in several formats:
- Student name + text + score
- Student name + score only
- Anonymous review (without revealing the name)
- Numeric rating only, without text
Every verified review posted to the platform reflects genuine feedback from a student who contacted the tutor through the platform.
Responsibility for review content
The purpose of the review system is to maintain transparency and credibility for all users.
The content of reviews and ratings is the students' responsibility, and reflects their personal experience of the lessons.
Reviews on the platform are entered directly by the students, or by the platform team who enters the review based on what the student said in a call and with the student's approval only. After a review is entered, the student is sent an email with the review text so they can look it over and change the content if needed.
The platform team reserves the right to edit review content or remove it in cases of offensive content or content that doesn't meet the platform's rules.
How do ratings affect search results?
A tutor's Score is determined by several factors:
- The number of lessons the tutor delivered with students, relative to the exposure their profile received in search results.
- Follow-up performance with students, relative to the number of lessons each student requested.
- Student reviews on the platform, reflecting how satisfied students were with the lessons.
Tutors who consistently receive:
- Positive reviews
- High scores
- Follow-up lessons with students
tend to climb the Score tiers and get higher exposure.
How do I get better reviews?
We recommend a few things to help you get more positive reviews:
- Teach professional, well-organized lessons tailored to the student
- Check in on satisfaction during the lesson itself
- Ask at the end of the lesson whether there's anything to improve
- Encourage satisfied students to leave a rating on the platform
- Keep your lesson reporting in the system accurate and up to date
A satisfied student is your best chance at a positive review, and positive reviews are a significant engine for growth and for increasing the number of requests you get in the future.
In summary, student reviews are a central tool for building a professional reputation on the platform. Investing in teaching quality and the student experience will naturally lead to a higher Score and broader exposure.
