How online lessons work on the platform

Updated Oct 11, 2026

The platform is a marketplace of independent, freelance tutors. Tutors are not employees of the platform, they use it to promote themselves and deliver lessons independently.

For online lessons, everything is handled through the platform: scheduling, managing lessons with students, and collecting or reporting payment, as described below.

  • A commission of 20% applies to the price of every lesson delivered to a student (or any other tutoring service you provide).
  • Every lesson held with a student you received through the platform must be reported in your calendar, this is especially important for follow-up lessons.

Scheduling a lesson and reporting payment

  1. A student contacts you through the platform with the subject they need, the number of lessons required, an optional date for the first lesson, and other details. (See: How a student contacts a tutor)
  2. The request arrives in your calendar, and you receive a reminder by email/SMS.
  3. You can accept the request and get back to the student. At this point your contact details are sent to the student, and an optional date for the lesson is set. (See: I received a lesson request, what do I do?)
  4. In the first conversation, you and the student confirm the request is relevant, agree on the payment method (See: Payment methods on the platform), and set the date of the first lesson.
  5. You can reschedule or cancel a lesson if it's no longer relevant, through the lesson calendar on the platform.
  6. If the request is relevant, the lesson takes place using one of the available options. (See: Delivering an online lesson)
  7. After the lesson, payment is collected or reported on the platform:
  1. Issuing a receipt / tax invoice is the tutor's responsibility, and it must be given to the relevant student.
  2. If the student needs more lessons, either you or the student adds them to the calendar.

Important: Make sure every lesson with a student appears in your lesson calendar and is reported once completed.

How your Score works

Your position in the search results is determined by several factors:

  1. Number of lessons delivered, relative to the exposure your profile received in search results (repeat lessons count too). More lessons = a higher Score tier = more students in the future.
  2. Follow-up performance, lessons delivered vs. the number each student originally requested ("lesson potential realized"). Example: a student asks for ~10 lessons; you deliver 8; potential realized is 80%.
  3. Student reviews on the platform, reflecting how satisfied students were.
